The “ATILIM WingTsun/Escrima Assistant/Instructor Winter Camp ’23, held from December 23 to 27, was a great opportunity for martial arts enthusiasts to learn from Sifu AKIN, the founder and chief instructor of ATILIM TacticalTraining & MartialArts Organization, practice new skills, and have fun with fellow practitioners. The camp, organized by ATILIM WingTsun & Escrima Organization and hosted by ATILIM GYM-Amstelveen, offered the assistantship program for the first five student levels in ATILIM WingTsun.
One of the highlights of the camp was the dissemination event on the last three days conducted by Sifu AKIN, the coordinator of the DigiLead project, which stands for “Digital Learning and Leading of adult sports coaches”, is an innovative project funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
Sifu AKIN introduced the DigiLead project to the potential and existing instructors of ATILIM, explaining its objectives, benefits, and challenges. He also demonstrated some of the features of the platform, such as the interactive curriculum, certification, external resources, and the digital badge system. He invited the instructors to join the already active platform and to provide feedback and suggestions for improvement. Sifu AKIN also underlined that the curriculum taught at the e-learning platform is already adopted as a mandatory curriculum for ATILIM instructors, and asked all the instructors to follow the curriculum at the platform and get their certifications in six months.
ATILIM Instructors tested the platform and provided their feedback daily. Upon their feedback, DigiLEAD project partners evaluated and discussed deeply and made necessary updates accordingly.
The dissemination event was well-received by the participants, who expressed their interest and curiosity about the DigiLead project. Sifu AKIN thanked them for their enthusiasm and support, and encouraged them to spread the word about the project to their colleagues and students.
The ATILIM WingTsun Assistant/Instructor Winter Camp 2023 was a successful event that not only provided a valuable learning experience for the participants, but also a platform for disseminating the DigiLead project to the martial arts community. The project team hopes that the DigiLead platform will be a useful tool for enhancing the quality and accessibility of martial arts education in Europe and beyond.
